What is GSMA Entitlements
Endorsed by the world’s largest OEMs, this is the entitlements service which offers assurances that your customers can access the device features they pay for, on your network – whether on an iOS or Android device.
It’s a cloud-based platform providing seamless, secure and fast access to the device features a customer is authorised to use based on their plan, through a policy-driven backend framework that co-ordinates with the OEMs.
How it works and why it’s different
Through our APIs, the platform interacts with your end customers’ devices, network elements and subscriber databases to authenticate devices, verify entitlements, deliver configurations and enable features – even at the OS level.
The service enables all of these features:
– One-click eSIM transfers
– Cross platform RCS
– Access to advanced OEM features
– Default activation of GSMA TS.43 use cases
– Greater collaboration with the OEM community
Plus, it’s integrated with the GSMA Network Settings Exchange (NSX), providing an end-to-end path from uploading network settings in NSX to feature enablement on your end customers’ devices.
Why is GSMA Entitlements important for your business?
It combines the ease of a multi-tenant Software-as-a-Solution (SaaS) model with the extensibility of a developer-led Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), helping you to:

Avoid delays and costs
Works in parallel with any existing entitlement solutions, avoiding costs or delays due to decommissioning and recommissioning. Offers seamless integration into OSS/BSS stacks.

Rapidly deploy
Start benefitting sooner, by getting it up and running in weeks, as opposed to months with other solutions.

Lower customer churn
Gives your customers the device features they’re entitled to and simplifies subscription, data and apps transfers, so they’re seamless.

Be market ready sooner
Fast onboarding with no infrastructure dependencies. User friendly and developer-led with reusable APIs.

Pay-as-you-grow
Ideal for smaller MNOs and MVNOs, there’s no set up fee and you only pay when you launch.
Practical examples of what it can do
Here are some examples of the features that GSMA Entitlements can support for mobile network operators:
SIM
SIM and eSIM transfers
Making the transfer of mobile subscriptions to a new eSIM on another device (SIM to eSIM or eSIM to eSIM) much simpler. Subscribers can move SIM/eSIM profiles to different devices during the initial set up or later through the settings menu, whether it’s:
• Android to android
• iOS to iOS
• Android to iOS or vice versa
Also supports SIM to eSIM conversion on the same device.
PNV
Authenticates a device’s SIM card directly with the carrier network.

Messaging
Messaging and Facetime
This is auto provisioned with no SMS authentication required.
Cross-Platform RCS
Gain unified RCS messaging between iOS and Android customers.
Android satellite
Enabled satellite messaging on Android smartphones when mobile and Wi-Fi networks are unavailable.

Calling
WiFi-Calling
An exclusive feature for GSMA Entitlements, which is auto provisioned and enabled.
VoLTE
Auto-provisioned and enabled, with no configuration SMS required.

5G
5G
Gain efficient data management across limited and unlimited 5G data plans.
The 5G entitlement allows a capable device to check if the subscriber’s account is eligible for ‘5G service and retrieve 5G plan’ information.

Advanced roaming
Advanced roaming
Select the preferred roaming partner network for customers, using entitlements based on their charges – whether they’re pre-paid, post-paid or bundled.

Watch and wearables
Watch and wearables
Pair watches, wearables and other companion devices seamlessly, based on customer entitlements:
• Done once and charged once (unless a customer decides to unpair) – requires the primary phone number to work.
• Provision a cellular iPad with a data plan linked to a primary device – plus, transfer an active iPad subscription to another iPad.
• Link cellular watch or wearable subscriptions with the primary device and transfer active subscriptions to a new watch – requires the companion device to have the same phone number as the primary device.
