How to report non-compliant TAC or IMEI to the GSMA, so we can act on it.
How reporting to the GSMA helps the ecosystem
When you report non-compliant TAC or IMEI to us, we can rectify it where possible or suggest corrective action to those brands and OEMs who are affected.
We will also share the information with governments, customs authorities and local law enforcement officials.
Application guidelines
- Claims of non-compliant TAC/IMEI must be submitted with proper evidence to the [email protected] so we can investigate on the Non-Compliant TAC / IMEI Reporting form. Non-compliance can include, but is not limited to, cloned TAC/ IMEI, counterfeit TAC/IMEI and multiple models being allocated under one TAC.
- The minimum evidence required to enable the GSMA to act, must include:
- TAC and IMEI of the device(s)
- Photograph(s) of the non-compliant or illegitimate device and its packaging
- Photograph(s) showing the device’s IMEI on screen and on packaging
- The name of the organisation responsible for the device in question, the device brand name, the model name
- Additional intelligence could be submitted, for example:
- The original brand name and model name
- Contact information for the device, including contact name and email address
- Headquarter address of the device
- Web address where the device can be seen on sale
- When and how the evidence submitted was obtained
- Upon submission, the [email protected] will review all information provided and subsequently acknowledge receipt of your form. Alternatively, they might advise that your report needs to be modified as a result of missing or unclear mandatory evidence.
- Once a form is submitted, for confidential reasons, the GSMA cannot disclose the outcome or status of any non-compliant TAC/IMEI investigation. We will confidentially investigate submissions and share outcomes with local government where we find clear evidence of illegal practices.
